Maria Giovanna Pastore Carbone

Dr. Maria Giovanna Pastore Carbone is a Postdoc Research Assistant at FORTH/ICEHT since February 2015. She received her university degree in Materials Engineering and her PhD degree in Materials and Structure Engineeringfrom the Dept. of Chemical, Materials and Production Engineering, University of Napoli Federico II (Italy).

During her PhD, she actively collaborated with Bridgestone TCE (Roma, Italy) and was visiting student at the Composites and Nanomaterials Laboratory at FORTH/ICEHT. She carried out post- doctoral research for three years at the Univ. of Napoli, during which she supervised several B.Sc. and M.Sc. theses and was invited as visiting scientist at the Applied Raman Scattering laboratory of the School in Advanced Optical Technologies, Erlangen (Germany). Her research follows a multi-scale approach towards the design, the production and the characterization of advanced materials (mainly polymers and polymer-based composites)with specific functional and structural properties. She has co-authored 20 scientific papers on international journals (H-index 11, Citations 288), 3 book chapters, 1 national patent and has actively participated in more than 20 international conferences. Her current research in the framework of the Graphene Flagship project is focused on the integration of graphene and related materials for the development of multi-functionalsystems, with emphasis on their structure/property relationship.
