Elli Bellou
Dr. Elli Bellou has completed her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Patras, investigating the fracture behavior of graphene and graphene-based nanolaminates. Her doctoral thesis has been focused on understanding the mechanical failure mechanisms of graphene and graphene-based nanolaminates, under tensile loading conditions, elaborating innovative strategies for the creation of a nano and sub-mm scale defect, and the study of stress distribution at their vicinity along with the crack propagation, using Raman spectroscopy and Atomic Force Microscopy combined with micro-mechanical testing. Beyond her Ph.D., she holds an M.Sc. in Photonics-Lasers and a B.Sc. in Physics, with earlier research experience in laser-based spectroscopy. Dr. Bellou has presented her findings at international conferences, published in leading journals, and contributed to graduate-level teaching, while actively promoting scientific outreach. Currently based at FORTH/ICE-HT, her work focuses on the production of 3D porous graphene using laser-assisted methods and their integration in energy storage devices.
